Emma Watson confirms attendance at Brown University

Emma Watson confirms attendance at Brown University For a long time now, rumors have been swirling concerning where actress Emma Watson will attend school in the United States. She has finally confirmed which school in a new interview with Paste Magazine:

Paste: You are off to University in the autumn.

Watson: I am—to Brown, which is an Ivy League establishment in the U.S.A. I’ve got a place there to read literature.

Paste: Was that a deliberate career choice?

Watson: Oh yes, very definitely. I hope to do quite well with my A Levels [she’s being modest—she achieved straight A’s in her chosen subjects, English literature, geography and art, as well as seven A’s and three A* at GCSE level] and they’ve provisionally accepted me, so I’m off to study.

During the production of Half-Blood Prince -- the final chapter to be set within Hogwarts School -- Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Watson wore their characters' Gryffindor House robes for the last time. "I was like 'Burn it!' Oh my god, to be done with those shoes and that uniform -- that was an exciting day," says Watson. Radcliffe adds, "When you're 18, one of the worst things to be wearing while trying to chat up a girl on the set is a school uniform. You look like a kid! You’re not going to score dressed like that!"

The Los Angeles Times speaks with Emma Watson

The Los Angeles Times speaks with Emma WatsonIt’s now Emma Watson’s turn to be interviewed by The Los Angeles Times (Dan’s interview is coming tomorrow). In it, she speaks about Half-Blood Prince and her relationship with author JK Rowling:

“I must admit I still feel quite intimidated by her,” Watson said. “Not because she is actually intimidating, but because I admire her so much, and we have all been such mad fans of the books and her and everything.”

The author Rowling has said that Watson’s character, the sweet but swotty Hermione Granger, is based in part on her own persona as a child. That has led to a mutual fascination society between the actress and the writer who, together, have shaped the character. In “Half-Blood Prince,” Hermione is the wounded heart of the film, dealing with her stirring feelings for childhood chum Ron Weasley (Rupert Grint) as well as the dark threats gathering at Hogwarts.

The LA Times also promises a special Potter section in this weekend’s edition of the paper.
